Want to change the START name..??

Well friends...before this post i was also not knowing that we can change the start name.But really we can the the start name.

Before one year one of ma friend had said that can we change the start name,at that time i had also wondered that..can we change the start name..??and finally after too much searching i got something related to that..and here it is for you..

But you have to do more securely because it will corrupt your system or it will crash your system.So i will advise you that please read all the following neatly...



As you can see from the screen capture above.i have changed it with my name.I have been using the system for a few months now with no adverse effects.That's not to say i won't discover something down the road a bit,but for now i fell comfortable with the changes.If u you'd like to try theprocedure i used,the instructions follow.

STEP 1.MODIFY EXPLORER.EXE FILE

For changes, the file explorer.exe is located at c:\windows needs to be edited.Since the explorer.exe is a binary file it requires a editor.For that purpose i have used resource hacker. Resource hacker is a freeware utility to rename,add,delete,view and modify in 32bit windows executables and resource file(*.res).

Change start name

The first step is to make a backup copy of the explorer.exe file located at c:\windows\explorer.exe .Place it in a secure folder in your hard drive where it will be safe.

Now,

Run the ResHacker.exe file and click on file->open option.and open explorer.exe file located at c:\windows\explorer.exe as shown in fig.1.

Now navigate down and expand string 37 by highlighting 1033.The right hand pan will display the string table as shownin fig.2.We are going to modify the item 578,currently showing the word start.

Now here just change the start word with your name.here i have changed by my name Nilesh as shown in fig .3.

Now click on compile script and do the same for the string 38.As shown in fig.4.

Here i have changed the start text with the same name as i did for the string 37.


Save the altered file using the command save as from file menu as shown in fig.5.

STEP 2. MODIFY THE REGISTRY

Now that the modified explorer.exe file has been created.Now it's necessary to modify the registry so that thefile will be recognized whenthe user logs on the system.

now go to start->run and type regedit and then navigate to.---->
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon




Now double click the shell entry to open the Edit String dialog box as shown in fig.6. In the value data line enter thename that was used to save the modified explorer.exe file. Then click OK.

Close Registry Editor and reboot the entire system.If all went as planned you should see your new start button with the revised text.As---->

How To Remove AUTORUN virus..??

here, if any of your drive gone to autorun then it is very easy to remove that autorun virus...
just do following few steps to remove that autorun virus....
there are many ways to remove autorun virus..
i will try to give you all of them..

1)
- open cmd (click on start and then click on run and type cmd and then press OK)
-in cmd type -h -r -s c:\autorun.inf (if you want another drive then in place of c write down the drive that you want.)

-then go to that drive here in this case c drive you can see the autorun .inf file this is the virus and then just shift delete that file.

- do the same procedure for all the drives which are infected by autorun virus.

2)
second way to delete autorun virus....

- open notepad and write down the following code...

attrib -h -s -r c:\autorun.inf
del c:\autorun.inf

- here in place of c you can write the other drive name...
e.g.
attrib -h -s -r d:\autorun.inf
del d:\autorun.inf


3) third and the most easiest way just download the following file or go to my personal web site..
paste it in the infected drive..and run it (by double clicking it)
the virus will be removed...
